Activation Profiles

Overview

Activation Profiles are pre-defined mapping for each CloudCenter user (and, by association, permissions) and cloud settings (such as enabled clouds, default clouds, etc.).

An admin can:

  • Create a mapping to Activation Profiles based on properties associated with users from an AD server.
  • Set the following information in an Activation Profile:
    • Set clouds that need to be enabled for this profile
    • Set deployment environments for enabled clouds
    • Set the initial storage size
    • Set the initial price bundle/plan/contract
    • Set enforcement for each user to accept the contract terms
    • Set the applications to be enabled for this profile

Users activated with a specific activation profile can access tasks and features set for this profile.

Add Activation Profiles

To add an activation profile, follow this procedure.

  1. Access the CCM UI and click Admin > Activation Profiles. The Activation Profiles page displays.
  2. Click the Add Activation Profile link and set the required information for users with this profile.
  3. Select the default resource(s) for this activation profile – a specific BundleUsage PlanContract (check the box to Enforce user to accept contract terms), Deployment EnvironmentCloud, or Marketplace Application.
  4. Click Save. The newly added activation profile is visible in the Activation Profiles page.

Enforce User to Accept Contract Terms

When users sign up with Cisco, you can enforce the user to accept a Terms of Contract agreement that dictates how long this agreement should last. Cisco does not automatically renew the contract when the contract ends. Once a contract ends, users have the option to switch to another contract. See Financial Overview for additional context.

The activation profile in the following image identifies that the contract is not enforced (default).

The activation profile in the following image identifies that a contract enforcement is in effect.

If a contract is enforced, the user must accept the terms of contract before using CloudCenter.

Map an Activation Profile

Administrators can create multiple activation profiles and link each profile to a promotion type. For example, if an enterprise wants to run a joint promotion campaign with a partner, then the admin can specify the promotion code and the activation profile automatically maps to the activation policy rule.

To map an activation profile, follow this procedure.

  1. Access the CCM UI and click Admin > Tenant Information. The Activation Profiles page displays.
  2. Click the Select Profile dropdown in the User Activation Profile section and select the required activation profile to activate users.

Self Service Signup Activation Rules

Admins can also map an Activation Profile based on a admin-configured Promo Code. The Promo Code enables admins to sign up new users based on an preset activation profile based on on the resources specified in an Activation Profile. New users can be activated based on these rules when they sign up to use CloudCenter. For example, if you assign a Test promo code, all users can be configured to automatically use the activation profile called Test which was created to only use the Test deployment environment.

To map an activation profile using Promo Code Rules, follow this procedure.

  1. Access the CCM UI and click Admin > Tenant Information. The Activation Profiles page displays.
  2. Enter the Promo Code to identify this rule.
  3. Select the required activation profile from the Select Activation Profile dropdown.
  4. To add additional activation profile rules for this tenant, click Add Promo Code and follow Steps 2 and 3 again.

Users Created from External Source

If a user is created using SSO (imported from an external source), the default Activation Profile for the corresponding tenant is used to activate this user.

Admins can integrate existing Groups and Roles into CloudCenter’s RBAC model using Activation Profiles.

Delete an Activation Profile

To delete an activation profile, follow this procedure.

  1. Access the CCM UI and click Admin > Activation Profiles. The Activation Profiles page displays.
